Epilogue

“Diplomacy is the fine art of finding which ways to hit people to get your way.”
– Queen Drossa, first ruler of Omorea

One Week Later

“It truly was a pleasure to meet you Minna.” I offered her a small smile, which she returned.
“You as well Sylin, and you to Kaeo.” Minna answered.
“Thank you.” Kaeo simply said, which Minna gave a nod to.
“I doubt I’ll ever see you again, huh?” I would be leaving for a trade at eleven, and they only came though every seven years.
“No, likely not.” Minna sadly smiled, still seeming half not here. “Or maybe so, stranger things have happened and I serve the God of strangeness.”
“Well, once again thank you.” I said, offering a small bow.
She softly laughed, turning to leave. Kaeo waved, as the clerics packed up their small caravan. They were going back to Ekelek, in theory to pick up a cleric of body for their caravan, but I had a feeling that was not the entire reason.
“She is rather strange.” Kaeo said, watching Minna walk off.
“I don’t think we know the half of it.” I answered, feeling strangely sad.
Kaeo remained quiet for a while, and we stayed outside watching the horizon long past the clerics were gone.
I had two new siblings, who I wouldn’t have for too much longer. After all, in four years I headed off to the greatest mage school in the world; Laybridge.
